Mohiniyattam

   

Mohiniyattam is an Indian Classical dance form originating from the state of Kerala. The dance gets its name from Mohini– the female avatar of Lord Vishnu. Mohiniyattam's roots, like all classical Indian dances, are in the Natya Sastra and it follows the Lasya style. Lasya is the feminine aspect of dance. It is characterized by its soft, graceful movements. Mohiniyattam is a lasya-dominant dance form. This means that it emphasizes feminine grace and beauty.

Guru - Ms. Anuradha Manoj 

Day - Wednesday 6pm-7pm

Location - HSCF Temple grounds 

Fees - 100$ per month (25$ per class payable monthly) 

Start Date - May 14th 2025 


Classes will be tailored for basics education as well as performance oriented 

Semi Classical - Bharatanatyam

  

Bharatanatyam is an Indian classical dance form that originated in Tamil Nadu, India. Bharatanatyam style is noted for its fixed upper torso, bent legs, and flexed knees (Aramandi) combined with footwork, and a vocabulary of sign language based on gestures of hands, eyes, and face muscles. The dance is accompanied by music and songs.

Guru - Ms. Smriti Ganesan

Day - Saturday 11am-12pm

Location - HSCF Temple grounds 

Fees - 100$ per month (25$ per class payable monthly) 

Start Date - May 10th 2025 


Classes will be tailored for basics education as well as performance oriented 

Chenda (Percussion)

  

The Chenda is a cylindrical, double-headed percussion instrument originating in Kerala, India, known for its loud and rigid sound, and is used in religious rituals, temple festivals, and various classical and folk performances. A Chenda is taught in a traditional way, the students have to practice on a stone or wood using a strong and thick stick.

Pottery Workshop

  

Pottery is the process and the products of forming vessels and other objects with clay and other ceramic materials, which are fired at high temperatures to give them a hard, durable form.

Day - Wednesday 5pm-6pm

Fees - 100$ per month (25$ per class payable monthly)
